Health from an Inside Perspective

From whether we would catch the virus to trying to look after our mental health, throughout the pandemic, our health has been at the forefront of our minds.

We followed Government guidance on how to minimise the risk of infection and found inventive ways to keep connected, manage our fears as well as balance the demands of homeschooling, home working, home living and not to forget home drinking!

Prior to the pandemic, I used to view being healthy as looking well, and by that I really mean, looking slim! But I learned through the restrictions, the lockdowns, the tiers and the tears , that my health is about how I feel and that how I look is really a positive by product.

We scrutinise every picture we see of ourselves, mortified at the number of chins we appear to have acquired or Christ alive disgusted at the size of our asses but we don’t tend to be caught admiring the size of our smiles, or the joy of the memory.

We live in a world that is more visual and judging than it’s ever been thanks to social media and celebrity culture which can all too easily start to make us feel like a pile of crap. So it’s more important than ever to start doing things to look after our health.

Eating well and exercising are two very important things for sure but just as importantly so are

  • Making sure you are hanging with the right people that love and support you.
  • Putting your devices away and making conscious effort to feel present and in the moment.
  • Getting your ass outdoors as often as possible.
  • Spending time on your own, and feeling comfortable in your own company.

The pandemic gave us time, plenty of it and I’m unsure whether it was on purpose or subconsciously intentional but I started to focus on some things on that list and my health , well I have never felt better and whatsmore I don’t mind what I see in any photos either!
