My army of friends

I’ve never come home after an evening out with one of my girlfriends and wondered how much they like me, whether they will want to see me again, whether they really understand me or what their text actually meant.

At this point of my life, as an independent (some may call single) forty something fabulous, I’ve never felt. happier but that is due in no small part to the fact I’ve really got the best friends. My friends make me feel happy and valued, they make me giggle, they are always there for me, give me the best hugs when I need one but. pull me up when I’m out of order or need a kick up the ass.

I’ve spent many years. with my friends debating the suitability of our suitors, intentions of our boyfriends and even the longevity of our husbands but I’ve never needed to do the same soul searching about my friends.

As I’ve got older I realise the value of my friendships and what they give me far outweighs a fancy car, or the must have coat or the latest flash in the pan romance which I’m not sure I truly understood when I was younger. I believe that our society is historically built around a state of partnerships and coupledom as the norm but I think there is a new emerging trend ,especially in women, that questions that notion and believes that friendships can, and in my case, in fact are the. relationship of choice.

So wherever you are I hope you, and your friends ,have the most fabulous of days!
